Ms. Laurel Brittany Acho successfully practices criminal law, civil infraction defense, family law and landlord-tenant law by securing pleasing plea agreements and favorable trial results for her clients. She also practices in the areas of business, municipal and employment law.
As a Lumen Legal contract attorney, Ms. Acho appears as second-chair defense counsel for GunnAllen Financial in securities arbitration hearings. In this capacity, Ms. Acho assists Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn LLP, first-chair defense counsel.
As a litigation associate attorney with CMDA, one of Michiganís largest law firms, Ms. Acho focused on municipal and employment defense. Ms. Acho was involved in every aspect of litigation and won cases by having them dismissed on motions in state court and receiving a no cause of action verdict as second chair trial counsel in federal court.
At Elder Law of Michigan, not only did Ms. Acho resolve various legal issues for elderly citizens, but she also assisted a nonprofit organization by effecting its tax exempt designation.
At the MSU Law Rental Housing Clinic, Ms. Acho successfully represented low income tenants and landlords in security deposit, maintenance and eviction cases, among other matters.
At the MCADSV, Ms. Acho drafted board governance policies while she was instrumental in the training of nonprofit organizations on employee misconduct investigations, disability laws, FMLA, FLSA, sexual harassment and workplace violence.
